Grace Lutheran Church in Walton, Nebraska

"Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling-place for God."

- Ephesians 2:20-22

Cornerstone Removal - April 17, 2016

The cornerstone is laid in 1916

"‘Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?
Tell me, if you have understanding.
Who determined its measurements—surely you know!
Or who stretched the line upon it?
On what were its bases sunk,
or who laid its cornerstone?"
- God to Job

Not everything survived the 100 years. According to our records, this picture frame contained a photograph of the founding pastor. A copy of the photo is in our fellowship area.

Current and former members attended worship before opening the box that was inside of the cornerstone.

Items from Grace's past were on display such as a pulpit bible, original baptismal font, and visitor books.

Jodelle and George describe each item.

There were two newspapers.

There was also a hymnal and prayerbook.

The cornerstone is back in place for the next 100 years of ministry.

While the damaged items were removed, most of the contents of the box were put back and new items from 2016 were added.

The cornerstone was blessed and reset.
